Selfie Station

I have always used Facebook as a means for keeping up with family and friends.  Lately, I have found that Facebook is also a very useful tool for communicating with other school counselors.  I have joined several groups (Caught in the Middle School Counselors, Elementary School Counselor Exchange, High School Counselors' Network, etc...).  I have gotten such great ideas for lessons, working with students, communicating with teachers/admin, bulletin boards, etc...  the list goes on and on.

I just wanted to share the latest idea I got from one of those groups.  It was such a hit with our staff and students.  I took the idea that another counselor shared and changed it up to fit our needs.  Rather than signing the traditional pledge for Red Ribbon Week our students did the "Selfie Station" this year.  This was a photo booth set up with signs and props like those you see at parties and weddings.  The students LOVED this!  Check out a few of our photos.  If you want to see them all check out our school website HERE.

First Blog

I am so excited to get started on my own school counseling blog.  I have worked on a couple of other blogs over the last year (a technology related blog and a school counseling blog for my campus communication), but I am excited to have a spot to share ideas with other school counselors!  I LOVE blogging and have gotten so many GREAT ideas over the last year from some AWESOME school counseling bloggers.  Since I’m just starting I want to share a few of my favorite school counseling blogs.

1.  The Middle School Counselor
2.  School Counselor Blog
3.  For High School Counselors
4.  Life on the Fly...A School Counselor Blog
5.  Elementary School Counseling
6.  Savvy School Counselor

I told myself I would only list FIVE, but when I started listing them I wanted to go on….and on… and on!  There are so many great ones out there!

Excuse the construction while I work to get my blog all put together!
